Check Lists
Check lists are available for:
New Students:
- Applied for admission to West Virginia State University or West Virginia State Community and Technical College and provided all required documentation for admission such as high school grade transcripts, ACT or SAT scores, GRE scores, immunization records, or other requested items. Contact Admissions at: (304) 766-3033.
- Filed the FAFSA by March 1st
- Received a paper Student Aid Report
- Checked your SAR for income errors
- Corrected income errors or notified the Financial Aid Office about the errors
- Received a an e-mail notification to check Your Missing Documents for additional documentation or checked with the Office of Student Financial Assistance to see if you need to turn in additional documentation
- Received an e-mail or notification requesting you to Open and Submit Your Electronic Award
- Submitted Your Electronic Award on line
- Turned in all requested documentation by June 30 for fall semester, by November 30 for spring semester, by April 15 for summer semester
- Completed loan promissory notes, as required, by August 10 for fall semester by December 20 for spring semester
Returning Students:
- Filed the FAFSA by March 1st
- Received a paper Student Aid Report
- Checked your SAR for income errors
- Corrected income errors or notified the Financial Aid Office about the errors
- Received a an e-mail notification to check Your Missing Documents for additional documentation or checked with the Office of Student Financial Assistance to see if you need to turn in additional documentation
- Received an e-mail or notification requesting you to Open and Submit Your Electronic Award
- Submitted Your Electronic Award on line
- Turned in all requested documentation by June 30 for fall semester, by November 30 for spring semester, by April 15 for summer semester
- Completed loan promissory notes, as required, by August 10 for fall semester by December 20 for spring semester
Transfer Students:
- Applied for admission to West Virginia State University or West Virginia State Community and Technical College and provided all required documentation such as grade transcripts from all previously attended colleges and universities. Contact Admissions, (304) 766-3033, for admission applications and a complete list of requirements for admission.
- Requested that any scheduled disbursements of financial aid proceeds at your previous college or university be canceled. If these disbursements are not canceled in a timely manner, your financial aid at West Virginia State could be delayed.
- If you are receiving a WV Higher Education Grant you must notify the Financial Aid Office so the grant funds can be transferred.
- Filed the FAFSA by March 1 and listed WVSU (003826) or WVSCTC (040386) as the school to receive your SAR or --
- If you did not apply for financial aid at your previous college or university, you should immediately apply for assistance at West Virginia State University or West Virginia State Community and Technical College by completing and submitting a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
- Received a paper Student Aid Report

- Submitted Your Electronic Award on line
- Turned in all requested documentation by June 30 for fall semester, by November 30 for spring semester, by April 15 for summer semester
- Completed loan promissory notes, as required, by August 10 for fall semester by December 20 for spring semester
If you have completed the above items, your financial aid should be ready for disbursement on the day after drop/add closes for the semester. Successful disbursement means that your financial aid is credited to your student account. Any money that you owe to WVSU/WVSCTC (such as unpaid tuition, fees, books, room and board) is deducted from your gross disbursement and a difference check is mailed to you within 10 working days.
